Case Studies

Here are case studies of some of the problems we have been involved with over the years. They illustrate the kind of approach we like to use. We try and think “outside the box” to find intelligent and sustainable solutions that are reasonable for all parties. Case studies also reveal the importance of linking good legal advice with technical solutions.

Moto Cross Circuit

An arable farmer in the east of England benefited from ‘set aside’ grants to cease farming on a section of his land and to develop it (c 20 hectares) as a moto cross practice track, where young people could ride motor cycles around a circuit that was properly organised and supervised. more

Cereal Manufacturer

A small family business occupied a small, converted building within a builder’s yard, from where they conducted a cottage industry-type operation that involved the cooking, popping and packaging of cereal grain to produce breakfast cereals.  more

Engineering Factory

This business was involved in the manufacture of engineered parts for the aerospace industry and carried out its operations from a modern factory unit located very close to a terrace of residential properties.  The factory’s construction consisted of a steel framework onto which lightweight steel panels were hung. more

The Greek Weddings

In a north London suburb lived four brothers.  Their dream was to set up a business to provide a memorable Greek wedding experience – eating, music and dancing into the small hours – for members of the Cypriot community. more

The Clay Pigeon Shoot

Overworked city folk sometimes like to unwind by shooting clay pigeons.  A Northumberland hill farmer set up on his land a clay shooting ground. This developed into a significant business and soon became an important source of income for his family which had farmed the land going back many generations. more
